On Thursday 23rd May 2019, the campaign founder Clare Matheson, and the Living Wage Foundation, met with Mr Arora and 3 of the Arora Group's Directors to talk about the possibility of paying the Real Living Wage (currently £9/hr outside of London) at their upcoming hotel in Englefield Green, Surrey.

At the meeting the following points were discussed:

1) The Arora Group has not yet agreed the salaries for the hotels team.

2) The Arora Group will be taking into account the location of the hotel and its distance from the nearest public transport.

3) As a group, the company does not offer zero hours contracts and they will not in the new hotel either.

4) Currently in the Group the same wage is paid to all team members when doing the same role. Current legislation allows for those under 25, 21 and 18 to be paid at a lower rate, the Arora group does not change the rate based on age and this policy will continue in the new hotel.

5) All permanent Housekeeping teams are employed directly.

We are hopeful that the news will be positive once their pay is announced, reflecting the high cost of living (high rents etc) in this affluent part of the country, so we can close the campaign and celebrate the opening of their new hotel. We will update you then so WATCH THIS SPACE.
